Once a Viking,
Always a Viking

CHRIS RING

An Adventure That Began at Holy Rosary

While at Holy Rosary Academy, Chris Ring's determination, thoughtfulness and athleticism were on display from a young age. The 2001 HRA graduate, who went on to graduate from Father Ryan High School in 2005, surprised no one when he became a Navy SEAL and served the United States.

What is more surprising, however, is what Chris did after he finished his service. He became the first American to swim the entire Mississippi river to raise awareness of military casualties and their families. Oddly, for a SEAL, he’s not really that fond of swimming, but swimming the Mississippi seemed like the right thing to do, so he did it. Chris utilized his SEAL training, which helped him improve his mental toughness, to complete the challenge which was both mental and physical.

With a faithful upbringing in Nashville's Catholic community, Chris entered the service strong and left even stronger. Finding his way began at Holy Rosary, and he is, as he always will be, a Viking for life.
